After an incredible 37 years of dedicated service to the library, it is both exciting and bittersweet to announce the retirement of our Library Director, Diane Insley. We invite you to join us in celebrating Diane's remarkable career with San Marcos Public LIbrary at a come-and-go reception on Friday, March 7th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will be an opportunity to express your gratitude and well wishes to Diane as she embarks on this next chapter of her life.

Over the years, Diane has been a cornerstone of our library’s success. She played a pivotal role in the library’s retrospective conversion, transforming our card catalog into an online system with MARC records and ensuring our staff had the tools and training to effectively operate our integrated library system.

One of Diane’s proudest achievements was overseeing the expansion and remodeling project, which was completed in 2021.. This project has not only modernized our space but has also improved the experience of everyone who walks through our doors.

Diane shared that what she will miss most in retirement is seeing the diverse people of San Marcos visit the library, helping them with their questions, and witnessing firsthand the joy of connecting people to the resources they need.

After her retirement, Diane plans to continue living in San Marcos, where she has made many lasting connections.
